About Ayebami

Turning lived experience into waves of healing and change

Ayebami Imani is a trauma-informed somatic educator, author, award winning filmmaker, and founder of Water2Spirit, a wellness practice dedicated to emotional awareness, nervous system education, and embodied healing.
A first-generation college graduate from Omaha, Nebraska, Ayebami holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Nebraska–Omaha, with concentrations in Sociology, Spanish, and Minority Studies.
She is an award-winning documentary creator and a published children’s book author whose work centers the voices of survivors, challenges stigma, and creates accessible, culturally responsive spaces for education, reflection, and healing.
Ayebami is trained in nervous system regulation and conscious breathwork through Healus Physical Therapy. She integrates body-based practices into trauma-informed learning environments that support emotional awareness, self-regulation, and personal growth.
Rooted in both lived experience and interdisciplinary study, her work bridges education, storytelling, and somatic practice to support individuals and communities navigating stress, trauma, identity shifts, and life transitions.

She does not diagnose or treat, but instead supports individuals in building awareness, capacity, and sustainable practices for self-regulation and embodied well-being.

A collection of stories that highlight children navigating emotional challenges such as anxiety and life stressors. Through guidance and support, each story encourages children to find their voice, build confidence, and recognize their inner strength.


Learning to Love Your Butterfly
An interactive workbook designed to help children discover their voice, gifts, and sense of purpose.
Through activities like journaling, drawing, word searches, and creative expression, children are supported in developing confidence, self-expression, and awareness of their strengths.


Tools for Children: Mental Health (Practitioner Guide)
A companion guide for educators, caregivers, and facilitators.
This resource provides structured tools—including worksheets, activities, and discussion prompts—to help adults effectively support children in using the books and developing emotional awareness skills.

Water2Spirit Workshops Overview
Water2Spirit workshops are trauma-informed, culturally rooted experiences designed to guide participants through a healing journey of transformation and empowerment. Grounded in lived experience and collective wisdom, each workshop supports individuals in moving from survival to resilience.
Through interactive practices and community connection, participants will:

  • Revive their voice and sense of self
  • Release stored emotions and limiting patterns
  • Replenish inner strength through supportive tools and relationships
  • Repattern emotional and neurological responses for healthier coping
  • Reform perspectives and pathways toward advocacy and change


Using body–mind practices, storytelling, and guided reflection, these workshops create safe spaces where healing flows, resilience builds, and communities transform together.
