An African philosophy that places emphasis on humanism. "I am because of who we all are." Africans believe that God is the original Scientist he gives mankind technology, which are tools and ideas. Life gives us problems to solve. Science is the application of the tools and the ideas to the problem. Because everyone solves problems, we are all scientists. When we work together to solve a problem we are creating and strengthening community or Ubuntu the sense of common humanity.
Removing the stigma that says girls are not rational or analytical enough to deal with the abstract principles of math and science.
Providing an opportunity for girls to see themselves in nontraditional occupational roles and careers associated with mathematics and the sciences.
Getting girls to make the "translation" associated with the notion that the many little things they engage with their natural intuition, ingenuity, communicative skill, and creativity are and are more correctly described and conceived of as "engineering" and therefore can be applied more broadly.
We teach them to make hair and skin products through S.T.E.M.
Example: You must break the process of producing the products into its component parts, throwing the mathematical, scientific, and engineering parts of those components into relief so that they begin to see themselves being scientists as they create.
